We cannot thank Shadows Veterinary Relief Trust enough for their generosity in helping us with our four unexpected ‘house guests.’ When a mama trusted her 3 kittens to the safety of our driveway. We called every shelter and rescue, begging someone to come and trap this young family. Every location was booked solid, and some had stopped adding people to their wait list.
Finally I was able to capture the kittens, but they we only about 7 weeks old and desperate to be reunited with their mom. I was out of my league trying to catch the mother and grateful when Finn’s Furever Rescue offered to help us trap her. In the day it took to try to capture her, I began to panic…how could I afford to pay for vet care for three kittens and a stray when I could barely afford care for my own cats.
Shadows fund was willing to work with me to provide support, including working with Finn’s, but ultimately their rescue did not have capacity to work with Moonbrook or foster the family themselves. They recommended we fostered and then surrendered if we couldn’t find homes.
Shadows Trust was so generous in helping us to secure their first-year shots, vaccinations for mama, and having all of them neutered and spayed. Moonbrook was absolutely wonderful in working with us and they’ve enjoyed getting to know the little babies! We were grateful to know that we helped prepare this family to have their best shot in finding a Furever home.
The kittens are just over 6 months old now and…as would be expected, we’ve grown attached and haven’t been able to find trustworthy homes among our networks. We are happy to say the family has become very happy in our house, with new names Mama S.A.S. (Sweet and Salty), Dusty Quartz, Dolly Sweets, and Shiloh Salem. We are very happy to add these 4 to our clowder because they are truly happy with us. That said, we absolutely could not have fostered, prepared them for adoption, or even considered the idea of keeping them had it not been for Shadows Trust. This is truly a life-changing opportunity for these special companions, and we cannot speak highly enough about the fellow animal-lovers who run this Trust. Thank you!

I’m writing to thank the Shadow Fund and veterinarian team at Moonbrook Vet Clinic for saving my cat Odin’s life. Though only 5 years old, Odin suffered from chronic cystitis and recurrent crystals in his bladder. The situation became so critical that a life-saving operation was necessary. The surgery cost was beyond my ability to pay as I am retired and live on a limited budget now. That’s when the Shadow Fund stepped in to pick up most of the cost. Odin had a rough time of it, but he is now recovering well and has a good prognosis. I am forever grateful to the fund, to Drs. Rappole and Brown and the wonderful staff for saving his life.

After a few days of being ill, I took Daisy to Moonbrook Vet for an evaluation. She was diagnosed with a blockage of her pancreas that required surgery. I am on a fixed income and the trust helped pay for Daisy’s medical bills. This was a huge relief to me.

I don’t know who you are but I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made it possible for my puppy, Reggie, to be able to grow up to be not only a dog, but a member of our family for years to come. Words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you a million times for being so thoughtful.

Thank you so much for your help. Without the trust I would have had to euthanize Lewis who is like my child. He had a urinary blockage and ended needing extensive surgery to repair it. Thank you so much Shadow’s trust.
